New media use has been a staple for the youth, especially since the advent of smartphones. But as per various reports and studies, its implications are not limited to a ‘sundry consumption of content’, but to a paradigmatic transformation in how the users think and behave in their interpersonal and social space. When the new media users/practitioners indulge in excessive internet use, their attention becomes scarce in the usual interactional area of family affairs. The author’s focus has been as to what kind of changes are occurring in the family environment under the influence of dynamic, individualistic, interactive, dialogical internet operation in second media age, by the compulsive indulgence of agency in new media.
The book documents the exploratory work undertaken by the author to characterize the ‘new media practitioner student agency’ of the universities in NCR region, built under the influence of mobile/internet use, i.e., their identity, traits, volume of new media use, lifestyle and their communication within the household.
